Come to The Third Annual NYC Youth Activist Conference with YELL! (Young Eclectic Liberation Leaders) We are a diverse group of youth dedicated to activism, community based education and youth liberation. Our conference is open to all NYC youth interested in meeting young folks who are involved in socio-political issues, facilitating workshops, creating artwork, learning things they don't teach you in school and having fun! This will be a space for people to educate themselves while meeting other inspiring young people who are taking initiative to tackle issues in their communities. Our past conferences have included workshops like: Military Recruitment in High Schools, Youth Liberation, Visual Resistance: the Portable Printing Press, Youth and Reproductive Rights, Radical Cheerleading, the Juvenile Justice System, Zine Making and MORE! Misled Youth is hosting a meeting about collaborating to build a by-youth-for-youth community space here in NYC. As young people, we feel that we need a space to call our own – a place to gather, find support, learn, and create. Here are our ideas for what it can include: · open space for shows and events The first meeting for this project is taking place on Saturday, June 16th at 1pm at the International Center for Tolerance Education. The Center is located in "D.U.M.B.O." Brooklyn at 25 Washington Street on the 4th Floor. Take the F train to York Street, the A/C to High Street, or the 2/3 to Clark Street. Please RSVP to let us know if you or someone from your organization can make it! At this first meeting, we want everyone to be able to brainstorm visions for a by-youth-for youth community space. We then want to plan a follow-up meeting for those who are more committed to this goal to begin to strategize ways that we can collaborate on building this space. | ||
