some of you all may be wondering, "what are all these new forums on the site?" Yesterday some of us in NYC had a meeting, and we identified six topics or activities we wanted to to do/learn about together. People signed up for the ones they were intersted in, and we have at least one person bottom lining (coordinating) each group. So members of the group can get together whenever they want, and figure out ways to pursue the topic they are interested in. We created group pages for each group that everyone is welcome to join or contribute to. They dont really have content yet, cause we just made them last night. I just sent out an email to the people who've been coming to meetings with more ideas for some of the groups:

So I agreed to bottom line a bunch of the learning groups we’re trying to start, so want to brainstorm with you all what those groups might entail as far as activities, and also start figuring out how to schedule them.

Quote:
Silkscreening Project – I just volunteered to help coordinate things for this project. I will soon be printing a multi-color poster for YELL, which I have never done before. Anyone is welcome to figure out this process with me.

“Mobile Art Squad” – I am interested in this general art making group where we experiment with different mediums and techniques. I think it would also be cool to take trips, either to art exhibits for inspiration, or to different places to sketch. I have experience in drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture, and we have a lot of supplies and books in our house. I am also interested in trying out new media like the mosaics that were mentioned at Tuesday’s meeting.

Writing Circle – I’m really excited about doing some collaborative writing workshops and projects. We could make and keep journals, write and discuss various topics that are important to us, do creative writing activities, write and perform poetry, create a zine, and more. I will start brainstorming more specifically for each of these ideas.

Gardening – I’m starting a vegetable garden in my backyard. It’s hard work but also fun, and I would like to share this (soon-to-be)green space with others. I’ve started writing about my gardening experience for the self education zine we were talking about.

let's make these projects grow!
