only ingrid was able to make it, along with joselito, brendan, and myself. but it was a good start. i did have to duck out early, but we discussed mondays at 6:30 or 7:00 at bluestockings and then saturdays at 12:00. for sat, at least this sat, we wanted to meet at a spanish restaurant that ingrid and joselito talked about. i have to get with them on the details.

for the language learning we read various headlines in a spanish newspaper and wrote down words we didn't know. in this we also discussed sentence translation, that is, trying to understand and remember that words are arranged differently and a more proper wording is used. we then began reading a popular spanish novel. however, it was written by an author from mexico and uses local words and expressions that were not always easy for ingrid and joselito to understand or translate. joselito and i suggested looking into south american authors and he also suggested bringing some of his old textbooks he has that are in spanish and about spanish history. i think this a a great idea.
