This is the section where people should say a little bit about themselves. For example,

-yer name
-where yer from
-yer interests
-if yer part of a group
-why you want to know some CUNY history
-what yer doing with yer summer
-one thing personal about you that we wouldn't find out unless you told us... so tell us!

and anything else you'd like to say...

I'm from NYC born and raised. I'm not sure what you mean by group but I assume yo umean an activist group. I'm interested in a lot of things. Personally I like movies, billiards, bowling, and scifi. Academically I'm interested in film, media, art, gender studies, philosophy and english. I'm not part of anything I consider an activist organization but I'm part of some school clubs such as the queer student union and the women's rights coalition. It never hurts to know about cuny's activist history adn the opportunities to use this information are all around us. This summer I've got an intership, yay money! Something personal that you wouldn't know unless I told you...I'm a pessemist.

That's ME!!!

hi

Welcome to the site! Since you're in NYC, why not come to a meeting? We're meeting Sundays now -- check the calendar. See you around!

Peace! This is Ianna, the humble typer-upper of the Word docs in this workshop. I went to high school in PA, I'm in NYC at Hunter now. Right now I'm interested in resistance, the radical imagination (oh yes!), printing/publishing, the Black freedom movement, Celtic struggles, and in not being afraid. I wanna get down with and spread some CUNY history so we can see that history is an ongoing process and we're making some right now. This summer I was researching at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and I'm about to take a roadtrip. As for something personal... I'm in an improv band that goes by many names (Mofo Bette/White Toothed Senator/McStabby and the Double Brothers/Zombie Condom), we performed last summer to the great dismay of those who could hear. And we had a blast.

I'm Liz, I'm from Brentwood, NY which is on long island. I have a love of music which is what I'm majoring in and I also have a love of fencing. no I don't build fences, I sword fight. I also love living life. I'm part of the hunter college fencing team and I'm not sure if nose wipe counts, but I'm mentioning it Eye-wink. I want to know about CUNY history because I'm fighting to improve the CUNY system which I am a part of so I care about it. I'm pretty unproductive this summer, spent much of it pretty much just wishing I was back in NYC. Let's see one thing personal...ummm, well everyone who knows me knows this, but I'm vegan. In fact I've been known to be referred to as "vegan liz" on a regular basis.

I'd also like to add that I care about this world so much that I do believe it is worth fighting for. I believe positive change is possible and I'll never stop fighting for it as well as for what I believe is right. I'd die for my beliefs and causes. I believe in the radical imagination (thanks Ianna).

all about me

hey everybody

my name is sarah, im 21, from nyc, interested in art, writing, youth activism, creating community spaces, gardening, and more. I am one of the co founders of the misled youth network, this is definitely the group that's closest to me. This summer i'm helping to start up a new community space in bed stuy brooklyn, i am involved in creating a public art studio and bring educational programs into the space.

I want to know some cuny history because i think the struggles of the students fighting for their educations have implications for us all.

a random personal thing...i really like sci fi books and movies. (nerd sounds)

Hi,

I'm an education student looking to get my masters and teach high school history. I'm a socialist in the ISO and I've been involved in a bunch of movements - especially around unions, immigrant rights, and third party campaigns. I was involved in some improv and sketch comedy until my incredible daughter entered the world. Now she's two and a half and I'm just starting to think about how to get back into that scene. I'm into learning about the history of CUNY because it's my history and my parents' history but mainly because I want to learn from those who came before me. Thanks for putting this together, Ianna.

hi

I'm Brendan... I'm more or less "from" a city in a mostly rural state, but I've lived in a few different places and anyway, I was never satisfied anywhere but NYC. I should have moved here a lot earlier. Laughing out loud

It's been quite a while since I've written up a list of my interests. I am interested in a lot of things, but what I focus on always varies. Some things include psychology, linguistics, neuroscience, photography, writing, seeking out new things, and lots more... Lately I've been working a lot, mostly doing menial labor, after not working for quite a while. It's a longer story than I want to get into now, but anyway...

I'm interested in history in general, and the history of education specifically. Why? I care a lot about learning and education and how f*cked up it can be and how it can be cool. I know a little about the CUNY's history but I'd like to learn more.

Something personal? I'm at a point in my life where I really feel the need to write up a lot about it and I'll post something along those lines soon.

hmm....

- I'm matt
- I'm from Long Island
- I play music a bunch, i like that.
- group? i guess misled youth (but i haven't been around recently)
- it's now almost december.
- i don't know any really personal things on top of my head.

otherwise, i go to hunter and parts of their system (and i'd assume the CUNY system in general) is absolutely horrible. I'd like to make progress in this area so it doesn't take me forever to graduate.
